 Holiday pet photos benefiting the Animal Birth Control Clinic’s Building Fund will be held at Dogtopia on December 6th from 12pm to 4pm.

Artist, Katie Croft of The Croft Art Gallery will be donating her time to photograph your pets just in time for Christmas. Photo’s can include a family member or just your pet. There will be a black background with a simple tinsel tree and a white background for black dogs and the scenes will be elevated. Sorry, no Santa Claus.

Suggested donation of $15.00 is appreciated.  All proceeds benefit the ABC Clinic Building Fund.

Tips for a great photo shoot:

Take your dog for a walk before to calm them and take their energy down a little. Bring thier favorite toy or snack to use for rewards and to keep their attention. Schedule your grooming appointments with Jacqui early so your pet will be pawsatively gorgeous and ready for their close up!

Howie and his walking partner

Last month Dogtopia participated in a pilot program with Hillcrest’s Getterman Center and Mary Hardin Baylor which was very rewarding. We recruited a few folks and their dogs and we took our fosters, Howie and Mel, over to walk on their outside track with some of the rehab patients. The patients really seemed to get a kick out of getting their exercise while walking a dog. Many even walked more than their required laps and a couple even did a little jogging. Howie was the favorite walking partner and hopefully all who walked with him will spread the word on what an awesome dog he is!

To top off the success of this beta test Mel found someone he adopted! He fell in love and wiggled and pranced until his new owner just could not resist anymore…WAY TO GO MEL!

Bo is one of our newer dacyare dogs. This bouncy, happy guy has quickly become a favorite of all the Pack Leaders. A Boxer and Ridgeback mix with tons of energy, Bo loves to play! He loves to fetch, he loves to wrestle and he loves tearing around the Romper Room as fast as he can! He is seemingly always into something and has a tail that is a weapon of mass destruction.

That means there are ALWAYS “Bo Stories” to tell and this just makes us love him more.

Congrats to Morrissey the Pom-Pilot of Dotopia North Carolina! Morrissey is the Dogtopia Costume Contest Grand Champion. Check out his pictures and video here!

Our Howl-o-ween party was a smash! There were many cute costumes, treats for everyone and the Tricks for Treats contest gave everyone a good laugh!

We had quite a few Boxers so we even had a Boxer group picture taken.

Introducing Ms. Shelby! Shelby is one of our newer daycare dogs that just immediately fit right in. She loves to play! She romps around the Toy Box chasing Alfie and wrestling with Craig or any other dog that happens by. Then she settles down for a power nap on the car bed so she can start all over again!

GREAT SCOTT! Well the voting has ended and the results are in and I know you’ve been shivering with antici…pation!

Who was the most SPOOKTACULAR?

Pearl Nemec as Dr. Frank-N-Furter from the Rocky Horror Picture Show! Pearl ran away with the Most Original Category AND had the most votes of all of our entries. She is going on to compete against the other Dogtopia Stores for title of Grand Champion and a 5 day daycare pass. So PLEASE go vote for Pearl in our National Competition! Voting starts Oct 29th right here www.dogdaycare.com and goes through Halloween weekend.

Who’s The Cutest of them all? Well…they were ALL pretty darn cute! It was a race to the finish though between Super Troop and Bo the Bunch of Grapes. Bo pulled out ahead just enough to win the Cutest category!

Our next winner cooked up a super showing in the Funniest Category! Belle the Bulldog (aka Belle Belle by the pack leaders here at Dogtopia Waco) and her brother Luke the Lobster were awfully cute, creative, AND funny! Their Mom admits it took a lot of treats to get just the right photo!

Our winners will receive goodie baskets at our Halloween Party on Saturday! Thanks to all that entered the contest this year. I didn’t think it possible to top some of our contestants from last year but you all did an awesome job!

As we approach the deadline for votes in our HOWL-O-WEEN Costume Contest there is some heavy campaigning going on!

We will be celebrating Halloween and showing off our costumes on Oct 31st from 1pm-3pm here in the Gym.

We will have treats for everyone, a costume parade, Precious Paws Photography will be on hand for pictures and a tricks for treats contest.

Owners and dogs are welcome to dress up, but not required. Leashes are required for all dogs. We hope you’ll join us for a SPOOKTACULAR time!

Meet King! Don’t let the size of this handsome boy fool you. He is a big teddy bear! He is very sweet but boy does he love to play! King wrestles from the time he hits the Romper Room until it’s time to go home! He loves all of his doggy friends but is partial to the Golden Retriever Pups! He can usually be found with Kaylee or Holly his two favorite playmates!
