Hey everyone!  We are only 5 days away from our 6th Annual Charity Dog Wash! Make sure to get your dog nice and dirty this week and bring them by Dogtopia of White Flint for a bubble and scrub this Sunday, July 18th from 11 am – 3pm!  All proceeds will benefit the Montgomery County Police K-9 unit and the Urban Search & Rescue K-9 unit!  We will have members of the units on hand for photos. Also, we will have pet-friendly vendors in attendance, a face painter and baked goodies for sale.

Help us support the AWLA

The Animal Welfare League of Arlington’s 14th Annual Walk for the Animals is this Saturday, May 9th!

The event is one of the biggest fundraisers for homeless animals in all of Northern Virginia and this year the need may be bigger than ever. They expect over 500 people and 300 dogs out at the Bluemont Park to enjoy the walk and all the fun activities afterwards.

We recognize every dog is not as lucky as Dogtopia dog, so we’re proud to act as a sponsor of this event and have a representative in the pledge walk!

Please visit the page here to make a donation – any amount is greatly appreciated.

Getting our paws dirty for the community!

Monday, April 20th, 2009

Yesterday, we spent the morning out at Baron Cameron Park, replanting a flowerbed that hadn’t been tended to in some time.

The bed is right at the entrance to the park and backs up to the dog park there, so we were really pleased to “beautify” it!

Thanks to Brian Davidson of Reston Dogs for giving us the go ahead on the project and special, special thanks to Treefrog Nursery, who donated many of the plants and assisted with the design!

Noah and his Dad, Brian (park organizer) were a great help!

Celebrate Earth Day with us!

Monday, April 13th, 2009

This Sunday, April 19th from 9am – 11am, join us at the Reston Dog Park, located in Baron Cameron Park, for a park clean-up and gardening project!

Bring the kids, the ones that don’t have fur, as well as the ones that do, for a great day outside, making our little corner of the Earth a bit cleaner and prettier.

If you’re interested in receiving more information, please send an email to Alex@dogdaycare.com and we’ll add you to our “possible volunteer” list.

No pressure – it just means you may be interested in helping out. :)

If you are unable to join us, we encourage you to seek out your own project! Visit the Earth Day Network online for more information and ideas.

Support the Reston Dog Park!

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

With Fairfax County facing a budget shortfall that would run into the hundreds of millions (ouch!) and mean lots of cutbacks, we were concerned our favorite dog parks might be adversely affected. So we reached out to learn how we could help. Did they need waste bags? Toys? Bowls? We didn’t know.

We soon heard back from the wonderful folks who make up RestonDogs, the organization responsible for the Off-Leash Dog Park at Baron Cameron Park… most commonly known as The Reston Dog Park. They wanted to encourage everyone who uses and loves the park to become an actual member. The yearly fee is only $20 and proceeds help maintain the park. They were also looking for ways to raise funds in general, as they hoped to add a new water source to the park and some new landscaping in the future.

With that in mind, we’re having our first ever Bark for your Park fundraiser with RestonDogs!

Into February, each new member of the dog park will receive a $15 gift certificate good towards services at Dogtopia of Tyson’s Corner and we will happily donate $25 to the park’s treasury for every new customer we receive that references the dog park as how they heard about us!

The effort has already received press attention – with articles in the Fairfax County Times and Reston Observer.
