2009 Humane Society Walk for the Animals
Saturday, October 10th from 10:00am – 2:00pm
Constitution Gardens on the National Mall

The Humane Society’s annual walk has become one of the most anticipated events of the year and we hope you’ll join us by registering to walk with the Dogtopia team!

Not only will you support a fantastic cause, but there’s a spiffy new Dogtopia t-shirt in it for you!

Can’t be there in person? Consider making a donation and becoming a “virtual walker”.

In addition to the walk, activities celebrating the joy of pets will take place throughout the day.

You can..

.. sniff out bones to redeem for fun prizes during the Dogtopia Mutt Hunt

.. pick-up some treats from one our favorite friends, Barkley Square Bakery

.. let your two-legged kids have some fun in the kid zone

.. enjoy door prizes, live music and mingling with the best tails in town

Click here to support the Dogtopia team and thanks so much!

Diesel is a sweetheart who loves playing in the Gym at Dogtopia.
He was given a second chance through the Washington Humane Society.

Cutie of the day!

nullKimchi Low is a shockingly adorable Westie who plays his little heart out at Dogtopia of Tysons regularly.

We love his sweet spirit. He was a little nervous when he started playing at daycare, but is a perfect example of how socialization can be so beneficial to a canine’s confidence. Now he’s a firecracker and keeps the room nice and lively!

He’s a staff favorite because he’s never too shy to show some doggie affection.

Love, love, LOVE the Kimchi! :)

Luke Robinson is walking from Austin to Boston with his best friends, two Great Pyrenees dogs, named Hudson and Murphy.

Why would Luke do this? Because like so many others, he lost a dog, Malcolm, to cancer at just 6 years. Malcolm was diagnosed with bone cancer and Luke turned to many place for answers. He found none that satisfied him and was inspired to begin this journey.

Along the way Luke has inspired canine lovers across the country, as well as participated in many events to raise funds for research and heighten awareness of the cause. His year and half long trek brings him to DC this week for the First Canine Cancer Caucus.

Join thousands of dogs and their loving owners this Friday at 10am with a mission to bring awareness to the realities of this crippling disease and spur interest in funding canine oncology. Be it friend, family or co-worker, virtually everyone has been affected by cancer in some way, and this research is valuable to our canine friends and humans alike.

Per the official website: Supporters will begin to gather at 10am at LBJ Park, just off of the Washington Memorial Parkway (close to the Arlington Memorial Bridge). The walk begins at 11am, moving across the Arlington Memorial Bridge to Constitution Ave. NW and ending at the Old Folk Life Center at Constitution and 14th. Along the way, participants will pause at the Reflecting Pool. for a brief memorial in honor of dogs who’ve been lost to cancer.
