Sophie Sanders celebrated the 3rd anniversary of her adoption last week here at Dogtopia. She shared tasty doggy cake wih all of her Toy Box friends and even sent them home with goodie bags! We love little Miss Sopie and had a blast hosting this adorable event! Springy Spaniel Breed Day!Tuesday, April 28th, 2009
We had a lot of fun today at our Springy Spaniel Breed Day play group! Sadie the cocker spaniel was full of energy, while Maggie the springer spaniel proved she is the prettiest flower ever. Sweet Brandy the Brittany bonded with her spaniel friends on the futon. We aren’t exactly sure of Ferris’ heritage, but he sure fit in with this springy group! Pet Fiesta in Reston this Saturday!Tuesday, April 28th, 2009Join us this Saturday from 9:00am – 4:00pm for a full day of four-legged fun at the Reston Town Center. Pet Fiesta is one of the biggest pet festivals in the area every year and it certainly won’t disappoint in 2009. The event is kicked off by the Tails on Trails Dog Walk. Saturday should be a great day for a walk along the W&OD trail and your registration fee will go towards homeless dogs seeking their forever homes. After the walk there’s a great schedule of events:

Why we love Freddie and Lewie!Thursday, April 23rd, 2009 Freddie & Lewie Freddie and Lewie are sweet, almost 2 year old mixes that attend Dogtopia of Tysons AND Dogtopia of White Flint regularly. They like to spread their joy over two stores and we’re so lucky to have them! - Both have been attending since they were puppies, but these siblings have a very unique tale. Though they are from the same litter, Lewie was adopted first. Freddie joined the family after a first adoption didn’t go as planned. - We think having an adoption fall through is quite sad, but it has certainly worked out for the best! There’s a dog named Bo laying in the oval office right now who’d probably agree that 2nd homes are awesome!! - We have lots of siblings that come to play with us, but Freddie and Lewie are the closest. They are best buds and can often be found running around The Gym playing tag. - They both have lovely “singing” voices. When something exciting is going on they hit those high notes like Mariah Carey! An airline for pets – finally!!Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009
Traveling with your pet can be an awesome experience and many of us would like to do it more, but the thought of having our beloved dog treated like luggage is simply frightening. Enter Pet Airways! It’s an airline just for pets! They fly in the cabin, instead of beneath the plane, receive a chance to “go” just before the flight and are checked on regularly during the flight. They are taking reservations now, with flights beginning in July to/from DC, Chicago, NY, Denver and Los Angeles. Springy Spaniels Day!Tuesday, April 21st, 2009 English Setter - Bailey  Brittany Spaniel - Brandy It will be hard to beat our last Breed Day… St Patty’s Irish and Redheads Day… but we think the Spaniels can do it! Tuesday, April 28th is Springy Spaniels Day!Cockers, Cavaliers, Brittanys and English Springers – it’ll be your time to shine! Remember, everyone will participate in a special play session with their “cousins” and go home with a fun photo collage of the day. Getting our paws dirty for the community!Monday, April 20th, 2009Yesterday, we spent the morning out at Baron Cameron Park, replanting a flowerbed that hadn’t been tended to in some time. The bed is right at the entrance to the park and backs up to the dog park there, so we were really pleased to “beautify” it! Thanks to Brian Davidson of Reston Dogs for giving us the go ahead on the project and special, special thanks to Treefrog Nursery, who donated many of the plants and assisted with the design!  Noah and his Dad, Brian (park organizer) were a great help!  Even the dogs came out to get their paws (and noses) dirty for a good cause  The Dogtopia team couldn't think of a better way to spend a Sunday! Happy Birthday Sam!!Tuesday, April 14th, 2009
Sam AB (I love the dogs with two last names!!) celebrated his 5th birthday with us today!Sam’s been visiting Dogtopia of Tyson’s Corner since he was little pup and we’ve been honored to watch him grow into such a fine, young dog.He was joined by friends representing both side of his heritage – Retrievers (both Golden and Labrador)Celebrate Earth Day with us!Monday, April 13th, 2009 This Sunday, April 19th from 9am – 11am, join us at the Reston Dog Park, located in Baron Cameron Park, for a park clean-up and gardening project!Bring the kids, the ones that don’t have fur, as well as the ones that do, for a great day outside, making our little corner of the Earth a bit cleaner and prettier.If you’re interested in receiving more information, please send an email to Alex@dogdaycare.com and we’ll add you to our “possible volunteer” list.No pressure – it just means you may be interested in helping out.
