Adorable costumed K9s strutted their stuff at Dogtopia of Tysons on Sunday afternoon for our Howl-o-ween Party. Dogs and owners enjoyed goodies and mingling. Dogtopia owner Amy’s son Aiden was the official candy dispenser and took his job very seriously! The Dogtopia staff voted to determine the prize winners.

Bruno Dame edged out his siblings for Cutest in his pig costume, complete with hooves and curly tail. Bruno attends daycare every day with his sister, Emma, the purple monkey, and his foster sister, Jasmine, the jack-o-lantern.

Spookiest went to Wendy Schermerhorn, another daily daycare dog, in her devil dressed as a puggle, I mean puggle dressed as a devil costume.

Most Original was a unanimous decision, Princess Leia Noel the boxer as Pocahontas. Her human companion even dressed up to match!

Best Effort had to go to Lily Medina-Hamlin for bringing two costumes! Lily was adorable as a dinosaur and caveman. After her wardrobe change, she was so cute as Minnie Mouse. “Minnie” even got to play with Mickey, a happy shih-tzu who is a daycare regular and attended as Christmas Dog.

Several of the dogs had a little trouble keeping the head-gear parts of their costumes on as they romped around, but that just added to the silliness of it all! Click here to view all the adorable photos!

Join us this Monday for our 1^st ever Pooch Poll!

Dogs in attendance will be given an elephant and donkey treat to choose from. The treat they eat casts their vote! Voting will be held during pick-ups from 3 pm – 7 pm.
We’ll announce a winner before the humans head to the polls on Tuesday.

We had a great time at our Halloween party here at Dogtopia of Tysons! Stay tuned to read all about it and see the cute photos we snapped!

Now that our Halloween party is behind us, it’s time to focus on Dogtopia’s nation-wide costume contest! Dogtopias across the country were faced with tough decisions this year as so many of you submitted wonderfully creative photos for this year’s contest!

But ultimately a top dog had to be chosen from each store and the online voting is officially open in the 2008 Dogtopia Howl-O-Ween Costumer Contest! Representing Dogtopia of Tysons Corner is Penelope as “Animal” from the Muppets!

It’s all in your hands (or paws), so cast your vote now and be sure to pass the contest along to your friends!

A 5-Day Daycare Pass to Dogtopia is up for grabs – not to mention bragging rights for the next year!

It was Pug-a-Palooza today in the Toy Box! We were joined by some of our favorite pugs and puggles (beagle/pug mixes) for a special play day.

Wendy ruled the jungle gym, showing off how nimble she was. Bella was the fetch champion, but also enjoyed playing tug-o-war with Zoe. Pugs, Harley and Pieper got into the action as well!

Today was Loveable Lab Day here at the Dogtopia of Tyson’s Corner! Tails were wagged and pool water was splashed. A great time was had by all!

The pool was a huge hit and was dominated by Nelson, Gordy, Abby and Oliver. Abby’s new baby brother, Harley the black lab puppy, got to come to Lab Day on his first day of daycare! He enjoyed meeting all the “big kids” who he will play with someday. Harley was a brave boy and went down the big slide! Daisy, a lab puppy who plays in the Toy Box, got to play with the big kids too! Ginger was “Queen of the Castle” and watched all the activity from up high.

Join us for our Howl-O-Ween Party Sunday, Oct 26^th!

All dogs are invited to show-off their wildest Halloween duds at our Howl-O-Ween Bash from 1:00 to 3:00pm on Sunday, the 26^th!

Prizes will be awarded to the Cutest, the Spookiest and the Most Original doggy costumes. Our wonderful staff will be the judges, so dress to impress!

Refreshments and treats will be available and all contestants will go home with a goody bag.

For those of you interested in capturing your dog’s Halloween look, we’re offering a professional picture day by Pet-Aw-Graphy Photography on Saturday, Oct 25^th and Sunday, Oct 26^th at our White Flint location near Bethesda, MD. Appointments are available between 10am and 5pm each day. Visit the White Flint website for more information and phone to reserve your spot!

We’d also like to announce the start of Breed Days here at Dogtopia of Tyson’s!

Each Tuesday we’ll celebrate a specific breed and invite them to come enjoy a great time frolicking with their cousins in daycare that day! Each dog will go home with a “class picture”.

We are happy to announce our Annual Dogtopia Howl-O-Ween Costume Contest!!

This year we expect entries from 14 locations across the country and know it will be the best contest yet!

Enter your dog’s take on a scary ghost, cute pumpkin or anything else you can dream up by sending a picture via email to your store’s inbox.

Email addresses can be found by visiting our website, selecting your location and clicking on Contact Us beneath the About Us tab. You can also drop your picture off at the store’s front desk. Please submit your entry by Tuesday, October 21^st for consideration.

The cutest, scariest and most creative doggies will receive prize packs! One winner from each location will be chosen to compete in the Dogtopia national contest!

Visit www.dogdaycare.com Tuesday, Oct 28^th through Halloween to vote for your favorite! We’ll announce the Grand Champion on Monday, Nov 3^rd and they’ll receive a complimentary 5-Day Daycare Pass. Many Dogtopia’s will hold Halloween parties as well, so be on the look out for that information.

Last year’s winners included Bree as a Pretty Cowgirl, Frank as Yoda and Barry as Mary Kate Olsen.
