happy-lovescommunity

We regularly work with not-for-profit groups, classes, and teams to help with fundraising efforts.  In the past, we have:

  • Held Dog Wash Fundraisers – 100% of the proceeds go to the organization.  We supply the products; you supply the people and dogs.
  • Donations to silent auctions/raffles – Typical donations are one or more 5-day passes and evaluations worth $155 each.
  • Booth at “festivals” – we have paid a booth fee at several events.

If you are interested, please contact us at 951-506-1200 and ask for Patrick.  You can reach me via e-mail at Patrick@dogdaycare.com.

Dogtopia supports the environment and Pets of the Homeless

April 18th, 2012 by Kay & Patrick

Dogtopia of Temecula (http://dogdaycare.com/temecula/) is pleased to announce that we are teaming up with Temecula Recycling (http://www.temecularecycling.com/) to collect recyclable materials.  All of the proceeds will benefit Pets of the Homeless (http://www.petsofthehomeless.org/), an organization that provides food and medical services to those that are unable to properly care for their pets.  Dogtopia is also a collection site for food, treats, and bedding for Pets of the Homeless.

From the Pets of the Homeless website:

Pets of the Homeless is a nonprofit volunteer organization that provides pet food and veterinary care to the homeless and less fortunate in local communities across the United States and Canada.  Our efforts have effects far beyond the care of the pets themselves.  Read the frequently asked questions (FAQ’s) for details.

  • graph_homeless_w_petsWhy?
3.5 million* Americans are homeless. Between 5% to 10% of homeless people have dogs and/or cats. In some areas of the country the rate is as high as 24%.
  • Who?
Each homeless person has a unique story; they are people with mental disorders, addicts, parolees, families, disabled, elderly, abused spouses, teens, and veterans.
  • How?
Our member collection sites accept donated pet food from people like you.  They then deliver it to distributing organizations (food banks, homeless shelter and/or soups kitchens) which have agreed to distribute the pet food to the homeless and poor.

Dogtopia of Temecula is an open play dog daycare, boarding, and spa facility located at 27629 Commerce Center Drive, Temecula, CA 92590.  For more information, you can call Dogtopia at 951-506-1200.

Dog Vaccinations Article

December 14th, 2011 by Kay & Patrick

I was reading the Pet Boarding and Daycare magazine and there was a great article on vaccinations.  Vaccinations are a source of questions that we answer regularly.  The common misconception is that vaccinations are like immunization shots in people.  This is not really the case.  Many dog illnesses, such as Canine Cough, have many different strains and the vaccinations are not going to provide antibodies to all of them.  Pets that are current on all of their shots can still catch these illnesses, but they are typically less severe.  Think of the vaccinations like getting a flu shot.  You may not catch the flu this season, but if you do, it will typically be less severe than if you didn’t have the shot.

Another item that was mentioned is the need for proper cleaning to help prevent the spread of infections.  This is extremely true.  We perform deep cleaning twice a day at our facility to help control germs.  All of the surfaces are disinfected and the floor is mopped with a broad spectrum antibiotic.  There is always a chance of catching a “cold”, since dogs lick each other and play with their mouths, but we do everything possible to keep the facility as clean as a veterinarian’s office.

The full article can be found here: http://www.barkleigh.com/pbd/pbd_issue1/pdf/PET_BOARDING_DAYCARE_ISSUE_1.pdf and begins on page 13.
