Today was a great day with 31 daycare dogs plus boarders. They Toy Box was trippin and the Romper Room was rambling. All the dogs had a terrific day and just played until they dropped. Even Olivia, our groomer, was busy bathing and cutting from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Be sure to check out our webcams each day to see if your pups favorite is here.
As many of you know, we foster dogs for Second Chance Pet Adoptions. We are proud to say that Number 19 went home on Saturday. That’s 19 dogs that we have found homes for 15 months. It sure makes you feel great inside.
Second Chance is hosting an event called “Stray From The Heart”. It’s a chocolate and champagne tasting fundraiser to support the pets at Second Chance. The event is Friday, February 12th from 7:30-10:30 pm. Please go to their website at www.secondchancenc.org for more detail or to purchase tickets.
Here is a picture of Gigi (Foster dog #19) that went to her forever home this past Saturday. We will be getting another foster dog next and will post his picture on the blog as well.

Isn't she beautiful!
Have a great day and don’t forget to stop by and say hello if your in the neighborhood!

Say hello to Petunia Rose aka “Toony” who is a very sweet dog with a silly name. She was found living on the streets without a collar or a Milk Bone to her name after almost being hit by a car. She’s a happy go-lucky puppy with lots of energy and enthusiasm. She’s been crate-trained and is happy to go into her crate when she needs some quiet time away from the other kids. She gets along nicely with her 2 foster dog brothers and one dog sister. They rough-house just like children but they know when mom says no, she means it! Petunia’s still a puppy, her body has legs and big feet which don’t always work the way she wants them to. She’s like a gangly teenager. Petunia would do well in a home without cats. Petunia thinks she belongs in your lap all 55 lbs of her but she listens when you tell her no. She’s very much a people person and just wants to make her person happy if you are looking for an outside dog this is not the dog for you. Petunia likes to snuggle on the couch and in bed with you, she’s quite the furry little heater-good for these upcoming cold winter nights. She’s a stunning dog with a big personality who just wants to make you happy. Petunia will need a fenced yard and daily exercise. Petunia doesn’t really know how to bark which is the boxer side of her, and the sound she does make will only make you laugh. Adopting Petunia will bring you many years of happiness and love to look forward to.

We are very proud to announce that we now have a groomer on premises. Olivia comes to us form Launder Pet in Long Beach, California where she was lead groomer for 11 years. She is a WWPSA Certified Companion Animal Hygienist and is also certified in Clipper and Scissor Techniques. She has experience working with many different breeds of dogs and is looking forward to bringing her personal touch to every client. We are very excited to welcome Olivia to our team!
Please call us at 521-8083 to schedule your appointment today.
Thanks.

‘Tis the night before Christmas and all through the town,
every shelter is full – we are lost but not found,
Our numbers are hung on our kennels so bare,
we hope every minute that someone will care,
They’ll come to adopt us and give us the call,
“Come here, Max and Sparkie – come fetch your new ball!!”
But now we sit here and think of the days…
we were treated so fondly - we had cute, baby ways,
Once we were little, then we grew and we grew -
now we’re no longer young and we’re no longer new.
So out the back door we were thrown like the trash,
they reacted so quickly – why were they so rash?
We “jump on the children”, “don’t come when they call”,
we “bark when they leave us”, “climb over the wall”.
We should have been neutered, we should have been spayed,
now we suffer the consequence of the errors they made.
If only they’d trained us, if only we knew…
we’d have done what they asked us and worshiped them, too.
We were left in the backyard, or worse – let to roam -
now we’re tired and lonely and out of a home.
They dropped us off here and they kissed us good-bye…
“Maybe someone else will give you a try.”
So now here we are, all confused and alone…
in a shelter with others who long for a home.
The kind workers come through with a meal and a pat,
with so many to care for, they can’t stay to chat,
They move to the next kennel, giving each of us cheer…
we know that they wonder how long we’ll be here.
We lay down to sleep and sweet dreams fill our heads…
of a home filled with love and our own cosy beds.
Then we wake to see sad eyes, brimming with tears -
our friends filled with emptiness, worry, and fear.
If you can’t adopt us and there’s no room at the Inn -
could you help with the bills and fill our food bin?
We count on your kindness each day of the year -
can you give more than hope to everyone here?
Please make a donation to pay for the heat…
and help get us something special to eat.
The shelter that cares for us wants us to live,
and more of us will, if more people will give.
Say hello to Copper. He is one sweet boy. As you can tell from his picture, he is appropriately named and have the most beautiful bronze coat. He is full of energy as most puppies are and needs a lot of exercise and play time. He would be a great family dog as he absolutely loves everyone. He would love to find a family that will play with him and take him for long walks. Copper knows how to sit and shake. If you would like to meet him, fill out an application today!
Copper is approximately 8 months old and is Anatolian Shepherd (mix). He weighs about 30 pounds and will not grow much more.
